MacDiarmid Institute researchers win NZ Institute Chemistry awards

Four MacDiarmid Institute affiliated researchers were awarded prizes from the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (NZIC).

Associate Professor Geoff Waterhouse won the Maurice Wilkins Centre Prize, the premier prize of the NZIC, awarded to a candidate based on the excellence and impact of their chemistry.

Lynn Lisboa from Professor James Crowley’s group at Otago won the inaugural JEOL Brian Halton Award for the best paper in the field of chemistry published by a New Zealand University student.

Professor Justin Hodgkiss and Dr Kai Chen won the Prize in Industrial and Applied Chemistry. Justin and Kai are the co-inventors behind Advemto, a recent spectroscopy spinout under incubation at Wellington UniVentures.

The NZIC is a professional organisation that supports Chemical Sciences in New Zealand and is a member organisation of Royal Society Te Apārangi. Awards from NZIC are awarded annually, making it highly competitive.
