Biography

Cameron Weber completed his BSc(Adv)(Hons) and PhD degrees at the University of Sydney before undertaking postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Imperial College London. He joined the Auckland University of Technology as a Lecturer in 2017 before moving to the University of Auckland in 2019 where he is currently an Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Centre for Green Chemical Science.

Research interests

Cameron’s research interests are in the understanding of intermolecular interactions and use of alternative solvents such as ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents and switchable solvents. He has a particular focus on addressing issues around sustainability including the development of novel methods for biomass extraction and processing, new catalytic processes and the use of solvent effects to control reaction outcomes.

We want to address sustainability challenges by harnessing and controlling the interactions between molecules.
