Dr Kannan Ridings

Kannan Ridings (Rongowhakaata) completed his PhD in physics on melting and instabilities in metal nanowires at the University of Auckland. He has since worked as a research fellow, and then as a lecturer at the University of Auckland contributing to the research done by the COVID-19 branching process modelling group. Dr Ridings is also the coordinator for the Tuākana programme at the University of Auckland which offers tutoring and mentoring to Māori and Pasifika students.

Dr Taniela Lolohea

Taniela Lolohea completed his PhD on exploring surface coatings and functional patterning using an atmospheric plasma jet printer at the University of Auckland, before continuing on in this research into a Postdoctoral Fellowship in plasma systems and coatings. Taniela is now a lecturer in Chemistry at Auckland University of Technology.

Discovery Scholarship Programme for Māori and Pacific Island students in tertiary science receives continued funding

We are delighted to announce the continued funding of the Discovery Scholarship Programme, for Māori and Pacific Island students. An extension of our DiscoveryCamp programme, designed to support students studying in the physical sciences, chemical/materials engineering, Māori sciences or sciences related to sustainable innovation.
