His field is spin-electronics, or spintronics, where he investigates the advanced magnetic materials needed to bring about a future generation of energy-efficient, ultra-high-speed and high-performance computer memory and logic that uses the magnetism, or “spin”, of electrons.

Professor Grant Williams

Professor Grant Williams is an Adjunct Professor at Victoria University of Wellingon. He is currently involved in a number of research programmes that include the study of new materials for magnetic sensors, optical materials and methods for radiation detection and imaging, bulk acoustic wave filters, water purification using natural photonic crystals, high temperature superconductors, inductive power transfer for electrical vehicles, and topological insulators.

Associate Professor Ben Ruck

Ben completed a PhD at Victoria University of Wellington before undertaking postdoctoral work at in the Molecular Beam Epitaxy Laboratory of Professor Tom Tiedje at the University of British Columbia. He returned to New Zealand on a FRST Postdoctoral Fellowship working with Professor Joe Trodahl before taking a position on the academic staff at Victoria University in 2003.
